Hello Endless…
There is nothing to see here, move along.

Blown away, totally.
Don’t know that I’ll ask for a code, but… wow.
{edit} So apparently this post ranks 3rd under gpstore.co.nz through Google as of 10/06/08.
Hello Endless, if I wrote about you (dont think I did) don’t take offence, as you can probably see most of these posts are vitriolic rantyrants. {/edit}

Why .nz? Because they were going to be cheap, they had the stock, they had the pre-order codes.
They failed. I’ve been given the run around by the shoddy folks at Gameplanet Store NZ, delay after delay, a week between email getting sent and getting replies. In the last email they apologised again and promised they would reduce the freight cost.
They did, by 45cents.
Good job Gameplanet! At a more reputable store if they promised something and failed to deliver, I would have expected to see the freight cost magically become super-fast courier cost so that I would have as little a wait caused by their mistake as possible. So i’ve sent gpstore another message, sure they ignored the last one, but this one asks them to please cancel the order and informs them that any charges to my Credit Card will be disputed.
Wonder if that’ll perk them up any…

Just thought i’d post this, one of the features of the game.
Portal technology adds a new dimension to game play, allowing enemies to appear out of thin air, creating new and completely original puzzles and employing advanced game play techniques.
…
Developers have been pulling this ‘theroomwasclearwhenyoucheckedit2secondsagobutnowthatyourbackisturned, LOOKOUT!’ crap for ages. Apparently now it’s a highly developed ‘feature’. Admitedly now we can see the portal, but i’m pretty sure we could see the portal in the latest Doom as well.

Not the book, the relatively new game from Human Head Studios and 2K… http://www.prey.com/
Fairly simple aliens invade, kidnap the hero, hero breaks free and procedes to defy all odds and tries to destroy giant alien ship.
It’s based on the Doom3 code so it looks quite good, especially at 1680×1050 with all graphics up to their highest.
The most ( only? ) unique thing about the game is that you ( the hero ) are a native american, though one who isn’t shy about calling his granpa’s stories as bullshit. As the game progresses there develops a more spiritual aspect to the storyline, starting when you learn (Oh god I just spelt that ‘lern’) to spirit walk. It vaguely reminds me of the Lost Vikings, the very old game from Blizzard. Put your character on a lift then spirit walk over to the control, hit the control and ‘release’ your spirit to return to you body because there’s no way you can otherwise click the button and get back to the lift in time.
When you die you dont really die, but are transported to a spirit realm where you must battle ‘Dishonored Spirits’ ( flying vaguely batlike creatures ) with your bow and arrows, each red spirit you ‘kill’ gains you more health when you appear back in the real world, each blue spirit gives a similar boost to your spirit meter when you get back.
So it’s an interesting enough game, pretty graphics, slightly different storyline.. here’s the problem though. I installed it late yesterday afternoon, and finished the game before midnight. Typical game development takes 18-36 months, for what boils down to no more than 8 hrs gameplay?
Compare this to, for example, Baldur’s Gate 2 which possibly the best, certainly the biggest PC RPG game, where if you ignored every single side quest I think you were still in for 70-90 hours of story.
Actually, I’ll go into that later.

Got so damn crotchety yesterday!
Some of it was that work sucked. I had three jobs;
First Job was DOA ( Dead on Arrival ) so there was nothing I could do but wait till 10am when HP opens it’s phone system then call and arrange a repair.
Second Job was a revisit, I must have been out to this family’s house 8 times so far. ADSL not working properly. After two hours, still coudn’t get it working 100%.
Third Job was a normal setup and install, only halfway through the install it became obvious that the system had been previously setup for “Graham” & “Gayle”. This new system. So the customer took it back to the store and i’m going back tomorrow arvo to set it up again. At least it was very local.
But I am suffering a little.. There’s far less sugar in my system than there has been for a very long time, and there’s been far far less World of Warcraft.
I’ve downloaded some amusing WoW Movies in the last few days. At the top of my list is this video which shows a 34-man raid on the dragon Onyxia. Nothing special, but they’re all druids!!
I’ve also had a play around with the WOW Model Viewer, to see how different sets and things would look. Which lead me to finding this which I think any WOW Druid would agree… fucking rocks! ( p.s. A restoration druid is not a druid, they’re a priest with a leather fetish, lern2play! )
If I stopped looking at these items i’m sure the pains would dissapear… HURRY UP 1.10! HURRY UP DESTRO, OPEN THE AQ GATES!

My World of Warcraft subscription just expired. At the moment i’m not planning on re-subscribing for a month, or till 1.10 is released, probably whichever comes first.
It’s quite a liberating experience. I think the next step is to uninstall, so there’s no temptation at all.

A few days ago while standing around in Orgrimmar ( World of Warcraft; Horde Factions Main City ) a naked orc ran up to me, opened a trade window, put 5 gold in his half and hit accept.
Now this is odd, but the day before I had lent someone 5 gold, so I figured this was him on another character giving me my money back. I hit accept, and after the money changed hands, he dissapeared.
Standing in Orgrimmar 2 minutes later, another naked orc runs up to me ( could have been the same guy ), opens a trade window.. puts 12 gold in the window, hits accept.
What the hell, if this guy wants to give me free gold. I’ll accept. So I do.
Laughing and standing around 30 seconds later, another naked orc runs up to me ( fairly sure this one was different ) opens a trade window, drops in 50 gold! hits accept.
At this point i’m thinking three things…
So after doing a happy-dance I post to the official Destromath ( our game server ) forums, explaining that I recieved gold. Does anyone know whats going on? I’m worried it might be from a stripped out account..
No official replies.
So I forget about it…
Tonight, after X-mas lunch and dinner and all that jazz, I log into the game and notice I have some money missing, about 70g.
Checking my in-game mail.. I have a letter from Blizzard.
Checking my email, I have the same letter.
Greetings,
We recently received a report from another player that their account had been compromised. During the course of our investigation, we discovered that one of your characters had received goods from this player. Unfortunately, we’ve removed those goods to reimburse the owner.
Our current policies regarding compromised accounts apply to both players who access an account they do not own, and players who knowingly or unknowingly receive gold or items from a compromised account. If a player is found to have participated in one of these acts, he or she may have the transferred goods removed from their account, or receive an account penalty up to and including account closure if the registered user of the account perpetrated the compromise, or both.
Should you require further assistance, please submit another help request the next time you are online. We hope you continue to enjoy your experience in World of Warcraft!

What the hell?
So if I unknowingly recieve gold, they can terminate my account?
So what happens if I buy an item real cheap on the auction house?
What happens if I take the item and buy an expensive enchantment for it?
Do I get my money back that I paid for the item?
Do I get my money back that I paid for the enchant?
Does the person that enchanted it for me get his materials back?
What if I had spent that money on an item?
Do I lose the item?
Does the person that sold me the item get it back?
Do I get back the money I spent on the item that wasn’t from this ‘hacked’ account?
I’ve written a very strongly worded letter to Blizzard asking them to explain how they go about determining what actions to take. I dont know that their response isn’t going to be to just suspend my account for doubting the godliness of their GMs.
