As you probably know, I’m not the greatest fan of my current employment status.
You could say that I friggin hate the place, the people, the job, the hours, the policies, the computers and more often than not, the customers. So I got it into my head that perhaps I could set myself up as a photographer. Nothing fancy, just portraits, maybe some commercial stuff, even a small wedding here or there. The problem is, going from Enthusiastic Amature to Professional is one of those transitions that actually requires better equipment.
So I’ve planned and plotted and put a little bit of my pittance away for a while, things kept coming up to stop me placing an order, but on the 20th of March I went ahead and ordered a nice portrature lens, a quality ( but not highest power ) speedlight, and something I found invaluable during my portraiture class, a 5-in-1 Diffuser/Reflector. They arrived on thursday.
I broke my camera yesterday.
The lens felt wrong when I tried to attach it, there was too much resistance. I tried a little more than I probably should have before giving up. I immediately posted to the camera forum I frequent ( infrequently now actually ) and was asked if I could take a photo of the mount of the new lens, with the old lens.
Yeah.. No.
With any lens in my camera I now get what is known as the “Blinking LED of Death”. I’ve managed to basically “reboot” the camera and get it to the point where sometimes it will take a picture, but without focusing or metering, and even then half the time it doesn’t work.
Taking the camera in on Monday to be looked at, see if it can be repaired and if so, how much.
