jobsearch bosskey

I love it!

I was just looking at http://jobsearch.com.au/ and noticed in the centre of the page a link with the title “Boss Alert”, click the link and you get a page all about “Creating a More Effective Workplace”.

What a laugh, the old boss-key trick!

Aah.. the good old times..

War Memorial

Was in the city this morning and took a few shots from the war memorial in the gardens, stitched 5 of the shots together and got this.

More Photos, because you demanded it..

Where are the photos Dean?
When are the photos going up?
How come there arn’t more photos?
Can I pose naked for your photos?

One of those questions never happened, you’re all relatively smart people so I’ll let you work out which one it is. Perhaps while you’re trying to work it out you might like to view some nice photos?

I’ve changed the structure of the Africa pics section, added some more to the Kruger Park sub-directory ( I almost said Sub-folder, damn Windows98onwards ), added a Howick section, a Cape Town section and a section with three panoramas from the top of table mountain.
In other areas, I’ve added a folder called “wallpapers”. No, these are not high resolution digital images of various wall-paper options I may or may not be considering for my house, these are in fact carefully constructed, highly polished images suitable for use a Computer Background Image, or “wallpaper” as they’re commonly known ( not screensavers, they’re completely different ). The wallpapers can be found at http://www.platinumweaver.net/gallery/Wallpapers/ . I’ve only included 1024x? versions of the images, if you want something higher just give me a yell or leave a comment..

That’s the other change, the skin I use to create the gallery now has a commenting system built in. It’s not my code, it’s not especially detailed, but it is available at the bottom of each photo, so say what you like, I won’t be scanning every image each day or anything though, so if I do happen to see your message it’ll probably be by accident in six months or so.

As usual with any sort of change, if you notice something broken feel free to let me know and I’ll try to work out where I went wrong.

bye for now,
Dean.

RSS… I guess

Hoping i’ve fixed the RSS issues. I’m sure that at least one of my three readers uses an RSS reader instead of hitting the main page.

Here goes nothing…

I love that 1X Robot… I mean… ports…

When setting up networks with multiple routers, please remember that each router will have two IP addresses. One of these is the address that all computers connected to the router see, it controls this address, you can set it to whatever legal address you like.
The second address is the one allocated to it by the router directly up the line from it, the router connected via the WAN port. This address is not controlled by the first router, it is either controlled directly by you or allocated via the second router’s DHCP arrangement.

It would be foolish to try to redirect data from Modem/Router to Wireless/Router by sending the data to the address that Wireless/Router uses when talking with devices attached to Wireless/Router.

Also, and I cannot stress this enough.

When dealing with network issues relating to downloading torrents, ensure that the torrent you are using for testing has many, many seeds and peers. No use trying to tweak your connection to get a better flow rate when there’s no-one at the other end.

Damn ports…

My torrent downloading efforts have been curtailed until I find a way to allow torrent ports through my dsl modem/router ( easy by itself ) and then through my wireless router ( also easy by itself ). Individually the processes are simple, easy, straightforward. Together they merge to become Super PainInTheArse

So if anyone knows how to redirect ports from the internet, through a Dlink DSL-504( not the G version ), then through a Dlink DI-624+ and into a machine using a static address, that’d be great!

p.s. www.portforward.com is a great site, but doesn’t seem to handle double-router situations like this.

New Banners

New banners from Africa. Jpeg’s 10-17 under the interface subdirectory if you want to have a look, or just re-visit( no need to reload) the index page a crapload of times.

Happy April Fool’s / All Fool’s..

No prank this year, honest…
Of course, I still chuckle occasionally about last year’s prank, so there is that anyway.
