Rant: Work

I don’t much mind the random number of hours a week I get from work.
I don’t really mind the odd little methodologies we are supposed to employ.
I don’t put too much thought into the often lack-lustre performance from the Sales staff.
I don’t even mind when the ‘Tech Support’ staff diagnose any PC problem as a virus.

What I do find mildly annoying however, is when the pay officer of the company, servicing many hundreds of staff ( full-time & sub-contractors ), who cannot throw together one remotely coherant english sentance, fails to pay me on time.

If you read the sentance..“Paperwork for Work performed between X and Y must be submitted no later than 4 working days after Y in order to be included in the next pay period” You would tend to assume that you should get the paperwork in say, within 4 days of that miracle Y date, yes?

You would then assume, based on existing information, that handing all your paperwork in 1 day after Y would be in keeping with company policy, yes?

Apparently bloody not!!

So I get paid only the money owed to me from the last pay period that the pay officer had neglected to pay me, ( no real reason, they just occasional state ‘Payment Pending’ for up to months at a time ). $147 for the next fortnight… that’s before tax too..

This will not do……

Comics: Reloaded

This is primarily a note for me for when I next pick up my comics. Feel free to ignore this if you like.

Current Books:
Mystique
Weapon X
Exiles

After-Reload:
Mystique
Weapon X - With Tieri writing well and Mandrake doing the art, s’very nice.
X-Force Mini
MadroX mini - Oh my God! Jamie Madrox, Guido and Wolfsbane! It’s like an X-factor family reunion!

Astonishing looks the goods, as does the first few issues of X-men with Austen writing, Larroca on pencilz with delicious UDON colouring, but that line-up is supposed to change veddy veddy quickly so I’ll leave that.
Exiles I might drop because quite frankly the artwork sucks on Morph’s pasty head…and they keep coming back to the 616 universe
New is turning into a school/teen/angst book, taking the place of New Mutants. Uncanny & Excalibur are being penned by Claremont, whose stories are irritating, though not as bad as the stuff he started off writing.

Must remember to tell Comic Book Guy I want those minis..

Archives

Is it wrong to read through the archives of your own site and laugh most of the way through?

I’ve had that archive page up for ages, but dont see any point in linking to it from the front page, mostly because I almost believe that I might some day get around to finishing the navigation for the front of this thing and put in something a little more sophisticated around back for making comments.

Someday…

The digital solution

Both of the ads in the last two weeks for the show ‘Room for Improvement’ on Channel 7 have used this term, both times the designers and renovators have set their hapless victims up with ‘The Ultimate Digital Solution’ or just ‘The Digital Solution’..

The solution to what??

It reminds me of the Simpsons episode ‘Hurricane Neddy’, where Ned Flanders verbally attacks the townsfolk that fail to rebuild his house correctly, lil’ Lisa jumps in and gets an earfull of..

Ned: Do I hear the sound of butting in? It’s gotta be little Lisa Simpson! Springfield’s answer to a question NO ONE ASKED!

What is this digital problem? Or is it an analogue problem with a digital answer?
I’m not even going to go into the use of ‘Wardrobe Malfuction’ as a one-liner on Channel 9’s evening news tonight!
