LAX

I hate flying. I so very badly hate it. This is supposed to be the first in a series of updates from abroad, but instead I feel like bitching and complaining, which i guess is normal considering the sardine can I was just squashed into for 14hrs.

Fun? I think not.. But I’m LAX and have a few minutes to write this.. so here you go.. arnt you glad I put you all before my own needs? ( Like I didn’t need a PC after that long away.. uh huh )

Personal Messages:
gil: I was stuck in sydney for hours, it sucked, but I didn’t have your phone number so I couldn’t bother you.. be glad. be very glad.
Murl: I still need your details. An email would be great… by the time you read this i’ll probably be in .ca so…. no dawdling..

Alright folks, I should go.. I’ll speak to you all again soon.

The Eagle Has Landed.

Did I mention I’m afraid of flying?

Oh yeah, it’s a big deal when you’re flying from Melbourne to Sydney, and then flying from Sydney to LA.. and then flying from LA to San Francisco… and then from there… you go flying to Vancouver..

Yeah - I hate flying… but room service is nice :)

Google Madness

It never really bugged me, but it annoyed me a little that whenever anyone searched for PlatinumWeaver in google, the top response would be at www.kozaru.net. Now dont get me wrong, I’m really not all the interested in strangers walking in off of the digital street to look through my garbage, but it still annoyed me.

What made matters worse was that somehow, google had cached my website with incorrect data. I dont know how, but wheneve you viewed the google-cache of www.platinumweaver.net, you got a badly designed, quite boring page about an RSL somewhere, instead of a badly designed, quite boring page about me somewhere.

I think perhaps it was a robots.txt issue, because it seems to have resolved itself, and now I take 1st place if someone searches for my exact website name. Pointless? Yes.. but appropriate nonetheless

Seaford

Had some time before my last job of the day which happened to be by the bay, so I went down with my camera and took a few shots.

Sunset Panorama

Okay, not so much a huge panorama, but this is something I’ve just taken with my new camera, then stiched together with PanoramaFactory and fiddled with NeatImage to remove JPEG noise.

Actually, it’s three 2032×1524px shots blended together to make a 4278×1461px image. which I have massively resized because I figure no-one wants to download the 18MB TIFF, am I right?

Enjoy.

Slack - LAN

Yesterday I went off to another LAN, that is.. a network computer games day. It was run the people of MassiveLans and was a very fun 15hr day.

I got home at about 2am, my system was up and running again at 2:15 and I was asleep by 3:00am. So quite a draining day really.

Slack - Camera

I know I’ve been pretty slack lately when It comes to updates and entries and all that jazz. I’ve been quite busy though, so it’s not like I’ve been sitting around with my thumb in my ear.

I’m now taking my camera pretty much everywhere I go, and playing around trying to get used to how everything works. I’ve taken some quite decent shots now, and am slowly learning exactly what works and what doesn’t. Though I’m sure it will take me quite a while before I’ve mastered my camera. The ability to make adjustments is why I chose this camera however, so it’s not as if I am pining for a point-and-shoot ezycam or anything.
There is a community which I have attached myself to that deals with digital photography in all it’s levels, and it’s great fun seeing what people can do, and what I hopefully will be able to do shortly.

Camera

Today I bought a new digital camera!

I’ve been looking for a while now, first at the Kodak DX4330, but then by the time I had gotten around to deciding, and saving up some money to purchase that one, Kodak had started to phase out it out, and had recently introduced this, the DX6340.

I’ve been playing around with it for a few hours, not too much because the battery is single-use until I get a rechargable one with charger, and at the moment I’m just using the internal memory, but I like what I’m seeing, and hopefully will post more pics later. Till then, enjoy.

Version 3.0

Well I’ve migrated over to v3.0, which I hope will be the last of the big changes for a while to come. There are still some features that I would like to include, mostly minor security and management fixes. As it stands though I am quite happy.

There does appear to be one issue, with the cookies the site produces ( at your request ). In the top right hand corner there should be a way of logging in and logging out without needing to make a post. In the comments section there is a checkbox ( checked by default ) which will also log you in, unchecking it will effectively log you out when you post a message.

That’s the theory anyway. On my machine this works with IE6, Mozilla Firebird 0.6 as well as Netscape 7.01.
If this doesn’t work for you, please leave me a note either as a reply to this entry, or via the contact section which now works again.

Thank you.

Things are screwy…

Things are a little odd right now. I’m working on Version 3.0 and somehow I’ve messed up the mainpage.

I’m out to lunch today, so I’ll fix things when I get back. Until I do, http://www.platinumweaver.net/v3/ is mostly upright
