If you had an electrician in your home installing a new wall socket, and while that electrician as there a tree fell through your roof, landed on your TV and smashed it to little bits. Would you blame the electrician?
There was a person working on the electricity, and something bad happened to the thing that uses the electricity, therefore it must be his fault?
No.. I didn’t think so either, but I seem to be getting a similar response from a client. I will readily admit that there is more linking the different parts of a computer than there is linking a tree with a wall-socket, but still…
Maybe I’m just easily annoyed at the moment..

Saturday the 29th of March will see me at my 5th or 6th LAN event, but only my second major LAN. Am I am so very much looking forward to it!
For anyone who doesn’t know, a LAN ( which actually means ‘Local Area Network’) is the common name for a big multiplayer gaming day, where interested parties bring their computers to a central location ( usually a hall or school gymnasium ), connect their system together and play usually violent games into the early hours of the morning.
It is so much fun!
http://members.optushome.com.au/procomp is the homepage for the LAN, it seems to be of suffient size that they’re asking for registration ( registration links doesn’t work ) which hopefully is a sign of advanced planning and not hyperactive imaginations and delusions of grandeur..

Thank you all for the comments that you have made, I picked up a few things that I hadn’t implemented properly and a few things that I had thought about implementing but never got around to doing.
There will be a comments on comments section as soon as I can work out how exactly it is done, so again.. if anyone has any ideas or thoughts on the matter, please comment and let me know.
Thank you also to the person who requested the boobies. I hadn’t realised that I was letting the team down in that respect, my apologies…

See what happens when you get a Saturday afternoon with no pesky work to distract you from what you want to do?
Yeah.. Basic blogginess is now going, and I’m proud to say that I typed every single line in this little system. Sure, I got a huge amount of help from gilmae and Pre, but in the end I didn’t copy and paste the whole thing, and I didn’t get it all fed to me bit by bit. So thanks guys, and whee! Look at me!!
Comments and Permalinkage up next. Possibly with a little security while I’m at it.

gilmae is going to kill me, but I finally managed to find a working copy of the 4008 build of Microsoft’s XP replacement, codenamed, ‘Longhorn’. The install from within XP Pro was actually quite painless. The ‘upgrade’ option during the install was greyed out, with a little note saying that you need Build 4000 or above to get that going, but when I ran the full install it seemed to just be an upgrade anyway.
A few things are broken here. Norton AV 2002 doesn’t seem to want to work or install. CuteFTP Pro 3.0 had a fit when I tried to run it, but I haven’t tried to reinstall it yet. The bundled IE is actually IE 6.05 which does not seem to like ‘Alt’ tags.. at all. But still.. no real issues.
I’ll be posting updates to a thread over at kozaru.net with screenshots which I’ll probably link to from here as well.
I like it.
Still no automatic refresh-rate fix though
